We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Cambodia News, (Oddar Meanchey Province): According to a source from the doctors stationed at Anlong Veng District Referral Hospital, on the morning of June 29 at 8 am, a man who was bitten by a venomous snake had his life saved by the medical team.

The man had got up to go to the bathroom in the dark at around 4:30am, and he trod on a snake which bit him in the foot. The snakebite victim, Touch Nora, 57 years old, called out to his family for help. The family came running and they saw that the snake looked poisonous; so they killed the snake and took the man, who was in great pain and was feeling faint, and they rushed him to Anlong Veng District Referral Hospital where they had some antidote for snake bites.

At the hospital, the doctors rescued the victim by giving him the serum just in time to save him from death, because otherwise the poison would have attacked his nervous system and killed him very quickly. The man was kept in hospital for two days while the doctors monitored his condition, but he was making a steady progress and is expected to recover.

The doctors said they wish to remind the population that venomous snake bites should be treated in a hospital with anti-venom serum as soon as possible after the attack. Any delay in treatment may be fatal to the victim.
