Do Western countries expel migrants and immigrants for “disrespect”? I wasn’t aware of that.

Huge, huge, huge respect to the Cambodian police that do nothing to enflame the situation. All they do is move a safe distance away from him when he gets too close. Apart from that, they have an amazing ability to simply let the guy have his rant, and wait for him to run out of anger and insults.

In all honesty, they probably have no clue what he's ranting about, and neither do they have the English capabilities to calm him down, but in many other countries, in this situation, they would simply slam him on the ground, cuff him and take him to the local police station.

Cambodian police simply let him have his rant, making sure he's not a physical danger to them or anyone else, and simply wait it out.

Big, huge respect to the Cambodian police.

But of course, as I often feel I have to say, foreigners in Cambodia do not just represent themselves in these situations. This has an impact on all of us.

I used to live in Thailand, and their word for these type of people was 'babies'. What they mean by that is that, nobody expects babies to have control over their emotions. They are babies / children. But as an adult, you are expected to have control over your own emotions. If you cannot control your emotions, you are nothing more than a 'baby'.

I don't know for sure, but I think Cambodians have the same philosophy.

These people give us all a bad name in a country that is not ours.

That was way beyond disrespect. In the United States his ass would have been arrested, then deported.

Thanks. I've lived here for over five years and I still have no idea, based on the uniform, if someone is a policeman, or just a security guard. Even if they are part of the police force, I know they have several different divisions of police. Again, I don't know if they are merely traffic police, ordinary police or some kind of specialised police force.

Just out of interest, if they were real police, do you think they would have handled it differently?

He was rude in public on the river yelling at me..
Because, I did not give him any money.
I had a Thai lady attack me at train station because she wanted money for yaba ice in Bangkok..
I was heading north...She tore off my shirt..hit me with her suitcase.. pulled my hair and yelled at me in front hundreds of This...I was humiliated and it really sucked.
I think it is time to get out of Cambodia...things are going from bad to worse.
I have a Khmer neighbor who yells into his phone above my bedroom window.
All this phoney smiling is a joke.
People act stupid..
If a foreign person posted a Khmer losing his shit he would be sued...
Glad I have a passport..
But, I have 5 months on my lease.
I do not want to break my lease.
I wish I could say the same about my Khmer landlord in 2018 who broke my lease with 8 months left..
Smiled and told me to leave in 30 days..turned off my water...

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs,
you clearly don’t understand the situation.

I still come back to the fact that the person who saw fit to send the link to the video has chosen to send the part of events that fit point of view, maybe a certain agenda. It’s not the truth, only a part of it. Observations about these events are based on a very small snapshot in time.

Its always the case<
examples
The filming of the guy choked to death in the subway in new york
and even more recent, the shooting of the kid by the french police>( looked how that is escalating )
People dont start filming until something starts to happen
so no one knows what led up to the incident>

I can sorta relate,
I had neighbors that constantly sang karaoke all all hours when i lived in Kep<
more than once i wanted to sit outside their house and yell or hit my horn on my bike or cut their power
BUT i never did

Can anyone of you say you have not thought of doing what he did when some neighbor got to them ??
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
