Mr. Cameron has done many deep sea dives with various submarines.
Usually I'd disregard what some talking head from Hollywood say, but Cameron does raise a pretty good point, and he does have experience in this field.

The CEO of the dive company disregarded warnings, regulations, and advice in an industry where anything less than perfect can be fatal. The inevitable happened.

I love the minimalist approach to anything but this sub was a real joke.
Although this sub was built for depths 2-3 greater than the Titan, it's what a proper sub looks like and designed for proper deep diving.

The one in the front of the top picture looks like a modified propane tank. I don't think these subs reach much depth but operate just below the surface between Columbia and Mexico or the States.
