Recently, the masses on social media were really surprised when a woman posted that her electricity bill was montrously high that month, considering that she was hardly ever at home. The monthly charges came to 404,000 riel (just under US$100), which the woman found excessive, saying that there must be a mistake, and she did not want to pay.
However, the EDC sent a technical team to the woman's residence, and on the evening of 16 June, 2023, they posted this report on their Facebook page:
"The EDC technical team found that the meter system is working correctly, and the cable in and out is also working correctly. Consumables: 1 refrigerator, 1 air conditioner, 1 cooker, 4 light bulbs and other accessories."

Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) would like to say to all customers under the management of Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) if there are any problems or questions related to the use of electricity, posting on Facebook or Tik Tok or other social networks is not the solution. Customers can either visit the EDC branches in Phnom Penh directly or contact via the phone number on the bill or the official Facebook page of "EDC" or contact EDC head office at 1298 by phone for a free settlement procedure. Therefore, please inform customers and the public. Thank you. ”

Electricite du Cambodge also said:" Please be informed that every customer's house has a meter system that records all electrical activities In the home of the client. Although the price of electricity in the hot and cold months are the same, during the cold months, customers use less electricity and they never complain; customers only complain in the summer, when more appliances are used, such as: fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, which are often used for longer periods, consuming more energy, depending on the amount of heat that needs to be cooled by these electrical appliances.
However, if you think that your meter has an abnormal problem, please contact the EdC to check if it is working correctly. Thank you. ”
