We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. It seems that the bubble has well and truly burst in many places, and is likely to spread its tentacles.

Seemingly, it now needs the crown of Khmer Hi-So to command compliance in Cambodia's version of Morton's Fork offering the choice of:

1. Go to the CDC and complain or;

2. Go and complain to others and be forced to go to the CDC.

Either way, all roads lead to CDC.

Whereupon they will eventually have a Hobson's Choice of either something or nothing. And something is likely to be so close to nothing as to be indistinguishable.

PM Calls for Understanding from Borey Owners to Their Customers
AKP Phnom Penh, June 09, 2023 --

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE, Prime Minister, this morning urged the real estate owners, especially the Borey (gated housing community) owners, to be sympathetic to their customers who use the instalment purchase directly with the Borey, but are no longer able to pay the installment.

At a get-together with more than 18,000 workers from 11 factories and enterprises in Kampong Tralach and Samaky Meanchey districts of Kampong Chhnang province, Samdech Techo HE said thousands of accounts have restructured by banks during the COVID-19 outbreak, and the context of Russia-Ukraine War and the sanctions, therefore the Borey owners should do the same for those who had applied for installment payment with Borey directly.

The Premier also asked all Borey owners to immediately stop the confiscation and review the loans by reducing the amount of monthly payment and the duration of payment, while the customers have the obligation to continue to pay the installment.

“This is a win-win strategy,” Samdech Techo Prime Minister underlined.
