Russian "Businessman" Shot in Phuket

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

THURSDAY, June 08, 2023
Phuket police on Thursday arrested a Kazakhstani man at the island province’s airport over the shocking shooting of a Russian businessman in front of a restaurant just before lunchtime the day before.

Dmitry Aleynikov, 44, was shot four times while in his car in front of a restaurant on Boat Avenue, an outdoor shopping complex.

He was shot once in his chest and twice in his left arm. A fourth bullet sliced his wedding-ring finger.

Police took the alleged gunman, identified as Artur Legay in local reports, for questioning at Phuket Police headquarters.

Footage from security cameras shows a gunman arriving on a motorcycle at the shopping complex in Thalang district’s Choeng Thalay tambon.

After getting off his motorcycle, he paced until Aleynikov’s vehicle arrived.
As soon as Aleynikov arrived, he ran to the front of the car and fired four shots at the Russian through its windshield.

:rambo: On the contrary, sounds like an efficient deterent to foreign gangsters. If you shoot someone in Phuket the police will deport you for overstaying your visa.
Spoiler:
Not sure what happens in Sihanoukville.

Russian must have seen the gunman coming and got his hand and arm up defensively to say he took three from four bullets in his hand and arm

That would seem the case. However, I imagine firing through the windshield would heavily alter the trajectory of the bullets.
