?? US passport is $130>>>just did mine last week by Mail in Thailandpissontheroof wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 7:20 am How convenient that would be . Between countries , ( it ) Must be automatic conversions.
I had to go to the passport office last week and they only accept cash in USD $
How ridiculous not to accept plastic !
So had to go to an ABA ATM and pull out 2 X $100 as that is the only bill they spit out - - - 100’s
for a $115 payment , then they didn’t have $85 to give me back so luckily I got to pay $15 in reil .
When finished , back for a ride thru all those gobs of raw meat !

I wasn’t very happy when back to seim reap - the taxi charged me $250 !

I find many of ur posts sheer fantasy
as far as QR code , wont find me using them unless they refuse to accept cold hard cash in the currency of the country i am in
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

A wad of 100Khr notes in a dummy wallet might get you out of a jam if you get mugged in a foreign city. Of course, once the muggers find out they were mugged, you'll have a bounty on your head.
The same goes for the fake $100's here, but FFS don't transit through the US with them, they will extend your trip by 10 years.

Passport office is not the US embassy .
It was a cambodian passport for my kid. , fantasy ?
After it was ready they called me to come and pick it up there in Pp. ,
ridiculous to have to go there , why can’t do passport at siem reap ?
Why can’t they at least send it to me here ?
Everything I say is totally true
Cambodia uses our money and requires the payment in our money and don’t give change .
Only 100’s are available ( in the ATM ) now
Here’s what I got and my reply to our US embassy : from Email.
Payment: Applicants may pay their application and notarial fees in U.S. dollars only. We will not be able to provide change or keep any access amount, so please bring the exact amount for the service requested.
I just did a cambodian passport and it was “ same same “ ~
You are all useless !
-[ I sent that back to them .. ]
So how do you pay that without QR or plastic , and why can’t they accept plastic card ?
What about keeping it simple ?
Ridiculous ..
That’s why I thought to take him there and get him american-ized in hawai
It is also inconvenient and scary to go there.
But they won’t reply to my request to take him there anyway ,
So .. BS my big accident turned into a big mistake ( headache )

Yeah @pissontheroof it's a shame that a Khmer passport can only be applied for in Phnom Penh, but I don't get your rant about payments, since you could pay in a combination of USD and KHR same as elsewhere. Also, if you really have a need for small USD notes, you can still get them from money changers.

Yeah @pissontheroof it's a shame that a Khmer passport can only be applied for and collected in Phnom Penh.
Would mean two return trips for most, which is a disgrace for a country like Cambodia where you count travels in hours instead of kilometers.

This was what they call a “ catch 22 “ there was no other choice because they didn’t tell me
( and i didn’t know from you ) that smaller bills are available thru money changers
I only have dealt with the bank and have never been to a money changer .
Anybody else takes the exact amount thru plastic cards

I never had any problems getting any dollar type bills I wanted from the bank or casino in shitsville .
When some BS went thru my bank in Kampong Thom I took all my smaller denominations to ABA
and cashed them in , including about 20 $2 bills I gave out as tips and souvenirs
Weird ? That’s exactly what I say about that place , why would anyone want to live there ?
It’s a place to change money , I got credit , debit , and ATM cards , why would i ever know about money changers ?
I know where to go for a hamburger !

It is weird/strange that by your own statement you have many years experience in Cambodia, yet services that are common place on many streets and corners (admittedly, im mostly familiar with Phnom Penh) such as money changers are unknown to you. You'd also need to be living a very disconnected existence not to have heard about the shift towards large denomination US$ bills in ATMs in recent times. Something that's been discussed on the forum more than once.pissontheroof wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 2:18 pmWeird ?
