Cambodia News, (Siem Reap): On 5 June, a police officer from the Siem Reap Provincial Intervention Office was taken into custody by Siem Reap police after he fired off more than 10 gunshots into his uncle's home while having a drunken argument.

According to the report of the local military police, at 19:58 on the evening of June 5, 2023, they were called to a house in Kork Chan village, Prasat Bakong district because a man was shooting an Ak47 rifle. The shooter was identified as Loun Sophan, male, 35 years old, Occupation: Intervention Police at Siem Reap Provincial Police Force, living in Kork Chan Village, Ampil Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province.

The police report confirmed the perpetrator, a Siem Reap police officer, was drunk and had a verbal dispute with his uncle Ros Rom, a 47-year-old man in the village. After arguing, Loun Sophat rode away on a motorcycle and later returned with an AK-47 rifle which he fired toward his uncle. After the action, the Siem Reap Provincial Police came to arrest the suspect, collect the evidence, and take statements from the witnesses. The suspect is currently being held for questioning.
