More details:
Cambodia News, (Kandal Province): On the evening of 3 June, 2023, a husband and wife, Born Channavy, a 33-year-old female and Chan Makara alias Daing, were fishing on the river at Peam Chumnic village, Ponhea Leu district, Kandal province, when they came across a suitcase on the riverbank. Curious, the couple pulled in the suitcase to look inside, but as it appeared to be full of animal intestines, they left the suitcase and returned home.
However, the next day, 3 June, the woman went back to check on the strange suitcase with her daughter, and when they opened it this time, they saw that the "animal bits" were actually parts of a human body. Then, close to the first suitcase, they found another smaller suitcase which contained blood-stained clothes and paper towels.
After seeing this, they called the People's Defense Force. Later, the specialized police force, in cooperation with the provincial technical office, went to the scene to examine the body, and conduct an autopsy. The murder victim is said to be that of an unidentified Chinese male.

UPDATE: 4 Arrests !
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Interior on Saturday morning, June 10, 2023,
announced that their officers have taken four Chinese men into custody and are detaining them for questioning as suspects in the murder of a Chinese man found stuffed into two suitcases and discarded in Ponhea Leu district, Kandal province.
The victim has been identified as YI MING DALI, a 25 year old Chinese man, working for a Chinese company, living in Chong Yuan Building, Lum Road, Kantuy Teuk Village, Sangkat Tien, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh. On June 3, 2023, his body, which was cut up into pieces and stuffed into suitcases, was found by local fishermen on the bank of the Tonle Sap River, in Ponhea Leu District, Kandal Province.
The Cambodia police conducted a thoroughly professional investigation, by first identifying and tracing the murder victim rapidly, which led them to his residence at the Chong Yuan Building in the Dangkor district of Phnom Penh, where the presumed murderers also resided. After further investigation at this building, the detectives took four Chinese men into custody, charged with the murder of YI MING DALI.
The four suspects are:
* First: DAI MINGXING, alias QI SHI, male, 34 years old, Chinese, living in Chong Yuan Building, Lum Road, Kantuy Teuk Village, Sangkat Tien, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh
* Second: Name: HONG QI, Male, 33 years old, Chinese, Residence: Chong Yuan Building, Lum Road, Kantuy Teuk Village, Sangkat Tien, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
* Third: Name: ZHANG XI YUAN, alias XIAO BAI, Male, 26 years old, Chinese, Residence: Chong Yuan Building, Lum Road, Kantouy Teuk Village, Sangkat Tien, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
* Fourth: LI CHEN, alias BING, 37 years old, Chinese, living in Prince Building, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.
According to the investigation spokesperson, security cameras were used to identify the suspects who were seen with the victim. The victim, YI MING DALI, a 25-year-old Chinese man working for an (unnamed) company in Room 3C on the third floor, was first tortured by the four suspects in Room 104 and Room 302 before he was taken away.
The Technical and Scientific Police Department inspected and examined the Room 104, 1st floor, and found there were 2 stains under the curtain, and in Room 302, 3rd floor, there were stains by the foot of the bed. Forensic testing of the stains revealed that they were made by human blood conforming to that of the victim.
It should be noted that the four suspects are currently being sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal action.

I love how the local journos get their word count up:
* First: DAI MINGXING, alias QI SHI, male, 34 years old, Chinese, living in Chong Yuan Building, Lum Road, Kantuy Teuk Village, Sangkat Tien, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh

Silence, exile, and cunning.
Re: Foreigner's Body Found in Two Suitcases
Once the victim is identified his friends, associates and workplace can be traced. If they find his mobile phone it is even easier.
When will these people learn to buy a shovel and dig a deep hole somewhere remote. Without a body it's a missing person, not a murder. FFS, they went through all the grisly crap of cutting him up and stuffing him in a suitcase, then just chucked it away. They all love casinos, maybe they should watch the film.
A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you're talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who's gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all fuckin' night.

Hmm, which one of these four does not belong ? I reckon that suspect number 4 is the most interesting of the gang - because he lives in Prince Building unlike the other three. He might even be the boss-guy.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 2:45 pm I love how the local journos get their word count up:

And I wonder why they had that guy killed ? Poor guy, only 25. Maybe he was trying to escape. Something fishy is obviously going on in Chong Yuan Building, Lum Road, Kantuy Teuk Village, Sangkat Tien, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
Take note of this , you police who read the internet !

Well, these authorities deserve the word 'competent' IMHO.Doc67 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 2:57 pmOnce the victim is identified his friends, associates and workplace can be traced. If they find his mobile phone it is even easier.
