Cambodia News, (Kampot Province): According to a preliminary report from the Kampot authorities, on the afternoon of June 2, 2023, a thief was caught and arrested after he stole two Buddha statues on Bokor Mountain.

The Buddha thief was nabbed red-handed by the local cops, and during the arrest the police confiscated the following items:
1. A big copper Buddha, 75 cm tall and 55 cm wide at the bottom.
2. A small sized Buddha, 41 cm tall and 33 cm wide at the bottom.

According to the report, the suspect, Soy Sophan, 29 years old, is a farmer residing in Trapeang Chrey village, Kampong Trach, Kampot Province. The authorities are building a case him according to legal procedures.
