Fire Breaks Out in Sihanoukville Highrise Top Floor
Cambodia News, (Preah Sihanouk Province): A fire broke out last night on the eighth floor of a residential highrise building, in Village 04, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville.
Major General Chuon Narin, Provincial Police Commissioner, said that the firefighting operation took nearly two hours to complete with the participation of the joint authorities in Sihanoukville and was extinguished at 5:30 am on May 22, 2023.
The fire, which is believed to have started due to an electrical fault, completely gutted the top floor of the building, but fortunately no one was harmed and the fire was contained.
The authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the fire outbreak.

I wonder if it was the elevator or just an apartment, because faulty electrical is a little to general and it makes me think someone wants to keep from getting sued.

There's so many "too general" explanations in Cambodia which try to explain away preventable tragedies.techietraveller84 wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 12:01 am I wonder if it was the elevator or just an apartment, because faulty electrical is a little to general and it makes me think someone wants to keep from getting sued.
A lot of building fires in Cambodia are blamed on faulty wiring, which is quite likely; but the problem is that nobody thinks to question why there is faulty wiring in the first place: going for the cheapest materials, rigging up electricity systems using unskilled laborors, using shoddy methods with no oversight, and so on.

'The fire, which is believed to have started due to an electrical fault'
But god forbid we actually enforce building regulations
