Thailand elections: Polls open with Thaksin's daughter as frontrunner

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Don't worry... Everything will work out fine in the end.

Pheu Thai to install Srettha as Prime Minister by forming a coalition pact with government parties

https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news- ... pracharat/
The Pheu Thai Party, on Thursday morning, after Wednesday’s traumatic events which saw prime ministerial frontrunner Mr Pita Limjaroenrat suspended from Parliament, is now openly suggesting that a new coalition partnership will be formed in the coming week without the Move Forward Party.

The Bhumjaithai and Palang Pracharat parties are expected to be brought into the new Pheu Thai-led coalition aimed at breaking the political deadlock. The two parties have been in power since 2019.

Already, it has been suggested that the Bhumjaithai Party wants to retain the Ministry of Public Health while the Palang Pracharat Party wants to control the Ministry of the Interior.

The proposed alternative coalition including the Bhumjaithai Party, Palang Pracharat Party and Chart Thai Pattana Party together with Pheu Thai would give the proposed new government 282 seats in the House of Representatives.

In addition to this, the acknowledged influence of Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, the leader of the Palang Pracharat Party, with members of the Senate is understood to guarantee an easy passage for any nominee agreed by the new coalition on Thursday the 27th of July.

and the dinosaurs go marching on an on
hurrah hurrah

We'll give him a hearty welcome then,
Hurrah, hurrah!
The men will cheer, the boys will shout,
The ladies, they will all turn out,
And we'll all feel gay,
When the dinosaurs comes marching home.

You're easily amused. The only thing that bores me more than Thai politics are farang bar stool experts commenting on it.

ASEAN Now is good for a chuckle here and there though, I'll give you that. The current thread about a guy whose Thai wife stole his retirement funds (that he needs to show to immigration) has had its entertaining sides.

has been in the thai news:
119 of the top lawyers of Thailand petitioned the court to reverse the decision to ban Pita for owning shares in a company that has been defunct for 14 years !!!
the government has now put nominating a New PM on Hold INDEFINITLEY
BANGKOK (Reuters) - The speaker of Thailand's parliament has postponed a bicameral vote to select the country's next prime minister, local media reported on Tuesday, as a political deadlock drags on more than two months after a May general election.

The vote was scheduled to be held on July 27 following two previous attempts by the leader of the election-winning Move Forward Party, Pita Limjaroenrat, that were blocked by conservative and nominated lawmakers.

A new vote for prime minister had been scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed to see if the Constitutional Court would rule on whether it was legal to deny Pita an opportunity to be renominated, while Pheu Thai struggled to seek backing of its nominee.

More forward party is playing it very very smart, no violence, allow the courts to sort out the dinosaurs

The 250 senate was appointed by Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and their post is up in April:
Things could be put on hold till than and when they are out , a new election will take place and the move forward party will take over>

going to be an interesting few weeks/months ahead an wait to see IF Thaksin returns to face his 12 year sentence next month

It may sound crazy, but conspiracy theorists are theorizing that Mr. T will receive a pardon and subsequently support the "dinosaurs".

Win-win for both parties, Let the good times roll :beer3:
