Phnom Penh Hospitals Closed Due to Lack of Doctors

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 12 May 2023, His Excellency Dr. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, issued three separate decisions ordering the closure of three private hospitals in Phnom Penh.

According to the decision dated 12 May 2023, the three private hospitals are:
- Pochentong Friendship Hospital
- Chaktomuk Friendship Hospital
- Friendship Center of Hope.
The reason for the closures was that the hospitals did not have enough doctors on duty to conform to health and safety regulations, and sometimes no doctors were present at all. Furthermore, the hospitals did not send in regular reports of patient activities to the Ministry of Health.

And, doubtlessly in a total coincidence, all of these are Hope International clinics

I lived beside a number of their staff once upon a time. Shiny eyed and naive god botherers

Ministry shuts four private clinics for flouting rules
The Ministry of Health has closed down four clinics in Phnom Penh for not complying with the law governing private medical practice.

The four private clinics that were found to be flouting rules are Pochentong Friendship Clinic, Chaktomuk Friendship Clinic, Centre of Hope Friendship Clinic and Ek Sovanmony Clinic.

The ministry added that the four clinics did not have main doctors in charge and regular doctors on shifts.

Besides, three clinics were also not filing reports consistently with the ministry.

Holy f**k. If bad doctors weren't enough of a threat to life, try NO doctors at all.

Maybe they have a praying circle.

At least someone high up is trying to keep an eye on what's going on.

Gov’t Shutdown of Health Clinics Ends Cambodia Daily Founder’s Humanitarian Projects
June 28, 2023
by Camboja News

Cambodian authorities in May shut down three health clinics in Phnom Penh and last year took control of a nonprofit hospital — a series of events that suggest the continued targeting of organizations linked to The Cambodia Daily.

In May, the Cambodian government alleged that three clinics run by Center of Hope had violated health regulations and had an outstanding $400,000 in unpaid taxes. The government shut down the clinics and deregistered the company even before a June 16 deadline to pay or contest the taxes.

Center of Hope chairman Bart Daniel says he believes the underlying motivation for the clinics’ audit, closure and an unfolding court case is their past connections with the family of the late Bernard Krisher, founder and publisher of the Cambodia Daily.
