Chinese Man Deported After Ministry Intervention
"I Wanna Go Home" : more and more Chinese workers in Cambodia are contacting the Cambodian Minister of the Interior on Facebook claiming that they are being held in Cambodia against their will by Chinese companies.
A Chinese man filed a complaint for intervention on the Facebook page of Samdech Kralahom, falsely claiming that he was detained and forced to work illegally in a location
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On March 23, 2023, the Task Force of the Minister of the Interior received a request for intervention (case 804) from a Chinese man named WANG ZHONG QING, born on February 2, 1983, stating that he had been detained and forced to work illegally in a location in Kandal province. The case was investigated and the information was passed on to the authorities in Kandal.
After receiving a request for intervention, the Kandal Provincial Police searched the location and found the Chinese man working for a company in Prek Soeng Village, Sampov Poun Commune, Koh Thom District, Kandal Province. He told police that he came to Cambodia on March 13, 2023, through the Phnom Penh International Airport, in order to work as a chef in a Chinese company for $ 1,000 a month.
During his time with the company, he said he received adequate food and adequate accommodation and was never detained or forced to work illegally, however, on March 22, 2023, his family informed him that his mother-in-law had an illness that required urgent surgery and regular caregivers, so he wanted to resign and go back to China. But the company was short of staff, and management asked him to wait. After waiting for a while with no results, and worrying about his family, the man filed a complaint asking for intervention on the Facebook page of the Minister of the Interior, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, falsely claiming that he was being detained and forced to work illegally.
However, upon examination of the actual situation, the operation team found that this was not a case of detention and bad practices by the company, but was caused by the man's concern for his family and wanting to get back to China quickly.
Currently, the authorities have sent WANG ZHONGQING to the eviction preparation center of the General Department of Immigration to be deported.

However, it's a good illustration that the competent authorities are looking into any and all reports of this nature
