How Easy is it to move to Cambodia?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

It sounds like a fantastic service for companies that relocate highly professional expatriates to Cambodia, helping to lessen the impact of cultural shock.

On another hand for individuals who are considering relocating to Cambodia on their own, it's good checklist. If you find it challenging to organize this on your own, Cambodia might not be the right fit for you.

- Suitable apartment for one month
- Meeting at the airport and transportation to your apartment
- Local SIM card
- 2-3 afternoons of orientation including local markets, shops and attractions
- Assistance with setting up handy apps such as Nham24 (food delivery) and PassApp (transport)
- CV, cover letter and LinkedIn rewrite
- At least 4 job interviews for TEACHING jobs
- Transport to and from job interviews
- Facilitation of visa process
- Assistance with setting up a bank account

Many southern Africans leave home due to horrific trauma caused by crimes against them or someone they love. Many of them have PTSD and don't know who to trust in a new country.
If my service is useful for them, fantastic. If it's not your thing, then that's fine too.
When I moved to Cambodia in 2009 we were met by and shown around by the NGO I would work for for a few days before being sent off for work. Basically they did what Roz provides too, except they also offered a few days language training.
For the employer, this certainly had benefits. Instead of finding out stuff the hard way they had their employees were setup ready for work within days, instead of weeks.

I am tempted to take on the Doc67 "I'm available for a booze-cruise orientation" course. How much will that set me back? Or does he accept beer for payment?

On the more serious note; I am impressed by rozzieoz and her business here. A good service to provide!

Looks like an interesting business. Even some of the most intrepid might benefit from having a good contact in a new country to ease the transition.

Congratulations, Roz - wish you the best with this!

Please let me know exactly what I said, so I can keep doing more of that. It's obviously working.
