Pretended Police Stopped Road Users to Search for Drugs
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: An strange impromptu stop and search operation took place in Phnom Penhat almost 12 o'clock at night on May 5, 2023. Road users reported that two men stopped a certain number of motorcyclists along the road 1986 in Khan Sen Sok, more than an hour after the opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games had ended.
The two men said they were police, but were wildly dressed and behaving oddly, and seemed to be searching for only for drugs. After a few minutes with no luck, the two men jumped on to their motorbike and drove off. Please note that, immediately after the incident, the civilian victims did not want to have a problem with police, so they went back to their respective homes without going to file a complaint.
However, the police have now been informed of the incident and are searching for the two culprits.

Phoney Phnom Penh policeman pulled
A half naked man, who pretended to be a policeman and searched Phnom Penh citizens after the opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games – whilst relieving them of money and valuables – has been arrested
The man and an accomplice, practised their deception at 11:30 pm on May 5, 2023, along 1986 Street, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

Re: Pretended Police Stopped Road Users to Search for Drugs
I’m having a hard time figuring out who are the real cops in Cambodia.
This pretend cop had on camo clothes and military boots.
While real cops wear flip flops.
And besides the criminal wearing cuffs, these guys are dressed the same.
Sneakers, flip flops, jeans, sunglasses.
Any pointers?

What was the point of buying all that army gear and then going out looking like a street bum?
Those guys don't look remotely alike.
And WTF are those, KIϟϟ boots?

Silence, exile, and cunning.

Re: Pretended Police Stopped Road Users to Search for Drugs
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Following the reports of two fake military police conducting stop and search operations on the streets of Sen Sok on the night of May 5, 2023, there was much criticism on social media about the lack of law and order in the district. This upset the Sen Sok district gendarmes, who in cooperation with the specialized force of the Office of Criminal Investigation of the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie, conducted a search and arrested a suspect at 2:30 pm the very next day.
The suspect, Pich Niwat, a 38-year-old male civilian with an unrealistic occupation, admitted that he had forged military ID and military police uniforms in order to stop people in the streets, confiscate their drugs and extort money from them. He added that he and his partner in crime had been doing very well at this job until the present time. The other man is still being being sought by the Phnom Penh Gendarmerie.
The military police also seized a number of exhibits from the above address, including: 2military uniforms, 1 military vest, 1 military logo, 2 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of shoulder pads, 2 pairs of helmets, 2 name seals, 2 tampons, 2 small and large photos, 1 medal, two mobile phones, and one military police license plate. The Royal Phnom Penh Military Police is preparing a case to be sent to court for legal action.
