Proposal for Thais and permanent residents to be charged 1000 baht departure tax

Interesting. In times of economic stress, governments don't want money being spent abroad. China also discouraging international travel by its citizens.

Nice to see a charge that Thais must pay but falang get for free (unless they are permanent residents).

Great idea. The Thai government has lost a lot of money on promoting domestic tourism. If they change that to penalizing Thais for traveling abroad with an exit fee, there will only be winners. 1,000 baht is a bit low though.

Thais (however wealthy) will hate paying it. I predict thay will exert a lot of effort to prevent it coming in.

If you are working you need it. So you are practically living there (temporary resident).phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 2:16 pmpermanent residents do not need re entry permitsChuck Borris wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 1:39 pm So 1900 THB for the re-entry permit and 1000THB on top of that.
