Depends on the immigration office: each office is its own law, some dont allow the combo method at all
phuket you dont need show 65,000,
just whatever you have in your bank + ur monthly income needs to add up to 800,000 /year

Seriously man, that was a joke. I see absolutely no difference in the quality of expatriates, whether in Thailand, Cambodia or any other country in ASEAN. It's always the same soup of people playing big roles all day until the money runs out. Remembering that the Turk back home became a nationalist on behalf of my country, I sneered.

ad. lib, couldn't give a flyin; fxck about what side I was drivin'seriosly.. don't get the joke, forget it

Interesting piece in the KT. No comment on its accuracy.

Just a few points regarding the ER...

- The ER is a Temporary Extension of Stay (EOS), to apply for an ER EOS the applicant needs to have entered the country on an E-type (Ordinary) Visa.

- The official fee for a 12 month EOS directly from the Department of Immigration Visa Office is $180. This requires the applicant to provide extensive supporting documentation such as official proof of retirement/pension status, proof of sufficient funds/income for the duration of their stay, Certificate of Residence issued by Sangkat.

- The $290 quoted in the article is if applying via a Visa agency.

- If aged 55+ and applying for the ER EOS via a Visa agency, the above mentioned supporting documentation is not required.

- If aged under 55 and applying via a Visa agency, official proof of retirement/pension status and proof of sufficient funds/income for the duration of their stay is required.

- The ER EOS is not limited to persons aged 55+.

- Persons on an ER EOS are not permitted to open a business or work in Cambodia.

So it's more than street food and unparalleled healthcare, it's also a lot better conversation you find going a little less east here. But I like cheap beer and cigarettes, and driving on the right side here gives me a good thrill, so an easy decision overall as far as I'm concerned.
You must have not spent much time in Pattaya! Our quality of expats is one of a kind!
