Man Shot by Police in Raid on Village Cock-Fight
Cambodia News, (Prey Veng): On April 15, 2023 at 12:30, the villagers of Krous village in Prey Veng province were outraged when a young deputy inspector of Ba Phnom district angrily pulled out a pistol and fired during a police raid on a village cock-fight. A village man was seriously injured, shot in the torso, and the local people were upset and shocked by the violence. There was a certain amount of anger among the people against the police, "who spend their time busting up village cock-fights instead of arresting armed robbers and other criminals".
People at the scene of the shooting said that the victim, 36-year-old San Vicheka was sitting on his motorbike watching the cock-fight when Deputy Inspector Sean Bunnal, 26, dressed as a civilian, arrived at the scene with his police officers. When the victim saw this, he started the motorbike and started to drive away, but was shot by Deputy Inspector Sean Bunnal, who lodged the bullet in the left side of the victim's waist.
The family of the victim, San Vicheka, rushed him to Choray Hospital in Phnom Penh, where the bullet wound was estimed too serious for their medical team, so he was taken the Khmer-Russian hospital to have the bullet removed and the wound treated. The victim, San Vicheka, whose wife has just had a baby, was told by doctors that his condition was very serious and could affect his life.
As for the young deputy inspector, his name was Sean Bunnal, the 26 year old deputy inspector of Ba Phnom district who did not know his head from his tail, he is in deep trouble. There are many eye-witnesses who will testify that the shooting was unprovoked, the victim did not say anything to the police, or do anything at all, before he started up his motorbike to drive away and was shot by the policeman. The villagers are very angry that a man was shot at for simply attending a cock-fight, and they are calling on the authorities for justice for the victim and his family.
The people, therefore, strongly request that Samdech Techo HE, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, the father of humanitarianism, and Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Ministry of Interior, help to find justice for the victim, and open an investigation to take action to punish the deputy inspector to suit his crime according to the law.

Re: Man Shot by Police in Raid on Village Cock-Fight
We have heard from the villagers, and now for the police version of events:
General Neth Savoeun orders the temporary suspension of the Deputy Inspector of Ba Phnom District after a firearm exploded, injuring a citizen
Cambodia News, Prey Veng: General Neth Savoeun ordered the temporary suspension of Deputy Inspector of Ba Phnom District after a firearm exploded, injuring a citizen during a police operation at a cock-fight ring. The case will go to the provincial court for processing.
Please be reminded that the Police Inspectorate of Ba Phnom District, Prey Veng Province cracked down on an illegal gambling site (cockfighting) at Krous village, Chheu Karch commune, but during the crackdown, the gamblers clashed with the police, causing a gun to fire, injuring one gambler.
According to the report from Prey Veng Provincial Police, on April 15, 2023, a four-man police unit was patrolling in Ba Phnom district to protect the security and order of the people on the occasion of Khmer New Year and to prevent all crimes. The unit was led by Lieutenant Colonel Seang Bunnal, Deputy Inspector of Ba Phnom District. During the patrol, some villagers reported that people were gambling at Krous village, Chheu Karch commune, Ba Phnom district, Prey Veng province.
After receiving this information, Lieutenant Colonel Seang Bunnal led the force to the location and saw that many people were gathering to gamble on cock-fights. However, when they saw the police patrol arrive at the scene, the gamblers started to run around wildly to escape.
The Deputy Inspector shouted and pulled out his handgun to threaten the villagers to stop and stay where they were, but they refused to listen. So then, the Deputy Inspector went to arrest 36-year-old San Vicheka from Krous village, who was trying to leave on his motorbike; but a fight broke out, causing the Deputy Inspector and San Vicheka to both fall down, causing the gun to fire off a bullet when it hit the ground, injuring San Vicheka accidentally.
It should be noted that the Prey Veng provincial police not only sent the case to court, but they have also taken care of the wounded victim and taken him for medical treatment.

It may at first seem outrageous though there is always a reasonable explanation for these kind of mishaps
Re: Man Shot by Police in Raid on Village Cock-Fight
Wonder why homeboy was aiming a handgun at people with the safety off.
Guns don't just magically go off with the safety on, unless there are some Chinese handguns that don't have firing modes.. wouldn't be surprised tbh

Good work by the police. The only way to stop this depraved cock fighting is with proper enforcement.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

That guy that was shot may not feel lucky but he seems it to me, missed a shattered vertebrae and damage that seems like it would have resulted in loss of the use of his legs
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

UPDATE: The victim is not out of danger
Cambodia News, Prey Veng: After the incident, the victim was taken to the Prey Veng District Referral Hospital and later transferred to Choray Hospital in Phnom Penh. Then, because doctors could not cure the bullet which had entered the liver, the family decided to send the victim for further treatment in Vietnam. The situation of the victims has not improved yet.
