Mechanic Posed as 2*General and Buddy to HM
FAKE GENERAL USES FAKE PHOTO
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On April 11, 2023, the Royal Gendarmerie received a complaint from an unnamed man against a suspect named Phorn Chanphanit in connection with the case of fraud and forgery of public documents.
The suspect told the victim that he was a 2*General , and was close friends with HE HM (son of the PM). The scammer showed his victim a faked photo of him together with HE HM, so the victim believed the scammer when he said that he could guarantee him a high-paying official position in exchange for $10,000.
The suspect showed the victim a personal profile together with his military ID, and other documents in order to receive the money. But later, when the victim asked for the amount of his salary and other details about the job, the suspect said that he had to ask his superiors, and he just vanished and stopped all communication. The victim then realised that he had been cheated so he filed a complaint with the Phnom Penh Armed Forces.
After receiving a complaint from the victim, the Phnom Penh Military Police immediately launched a search and arrested the suspect, Phorn Chanphanit, in front of the New World Borey Market, Khan Kambol. It turns out that the suspect is a car mechanic , who had showed the victim a fake military ID and the faked photo with HM.
Unfortunately, there was only $ 8,000 left out of the original $10,000. The suspect is currently being processed by the Phnom Penh Military Police.

Re: Mechanic Posed as 2*General and Buddy to HM
Just like Mish! Lol. Decent Photoshop and it's great there was $8,000 left at least.
Such a shame that this stuff happens enough that people will try their luck on both sides. Anyone met a cop who didn't pay for their position?

How entitled the victim is is quite revealing. He obviously thinks it's perfectly okay to pay $10,000 for a "high-paying official position" and that he has a legitimate claim to said position, thanks to having made the payment.
I wonder if someone who can actually deliver will be in touch. If only to let him know that he'll have to add a zero.
