What's your vice? Poll.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Te purpose of religin is the opposite of a vice .
Unless you think more deeply…
Aristotle defined vice and virtue as: vice is an excess or deficiency of virtue, and virtue is the mean between two accompanying vices that exists within a “sphere”
The mean between virtue and vice is …
…moderation, or striving for a balance between extremes. … The golden mean focuses on the middle ground between two extremes

And, finally …
Virtues are the character traits that your society approves of, whereas vices are the traits it disapproves of
… Many disapprove of religion/religious beliefs and behaviours - therefore, religion might be considered a vice by some.
As a carpenter I like to think of vice as in a vice to hold something ie not free. So religion is the method to free oneself from the vice . Obviously therefore true religion cannot be a vice. Most likely those who disapprove of religion would be those ignorant ones who prefer to wallow in vice as they have not yet experienced the bliss of freedom from vice.

A carpenter you say? And your mother's name was Sarah Connor?

From The Terminator movies
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

The NHS turned me into a junkie with pain control mess such as morphine tramadol gabapentin etc. Found peace of mind and a much better way of life once I took control of dosage etc. I will never be able to stop taking them but I am happy that they are no longer controlling me.

An aspect of addiction that I always find curious.
I had access to a sizeable NHS bottle of morphine. (Legally, I hasten to add). Yet never was close to hooked. Despite previously appreciating the pleasant effects of a dose limited by a machine set to ‘that’s your lot’, which felt good, but didn't really touch the pain. Just made it more acceptable.
I think my addiction was skinned knuckles in engine bays…

Sorry the medical system turned you into a junkie.

You have a great degree of strong will and self control. Most patients don’t have what you have. They expect something now. NHS is run by people who want to make them happy now. People don’t like to be told to find a peace of mind, unfortunately.

Medicines should never be in control.

Just my opinions, of course.

Strange thing was that morphine wasn't an issue, the gabas lyrical and various triptylines were as they turned me into a zombie
