What's your vice? Poll.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Presumably it will fry air. You might want to add some garlic to that though.

Food?
Surely you need a George Foreman grill?
They’re probably available cheaply now that the fad has passed (some may need scrubbing or shot blasting). They have a useful function of collecting all the naughty flavourful juices to make a nice gravy with.

Or a barbecue?
I always associated excess hot air with unproductive meetings.

Unless you think more deeply…
Aristotle defined vice and virtue as: vice is an excess or deficiency of virtue, and virtue is the mean between two accompanying vices that exists within a “sphere”
The mean between virtue and vice is …
…moderation, or striving for a balance between extremes. … The golden mean focuses on the middle ground between two extremes

And, finally …
Virtues are the character traits that your society approves of, whereas vices are the traits it disapproves of
… Many disapprove of religion/religious beliefs and behaviours - therefore, religion might be considered a vice by some.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

This has been the status for a few years now, other than cigarettes which I may have finally kicked 6 months ago.

2. The Booze.
Went through a few periods (6-12 months) where it was a bit messy between 2007-2012-ish.

3. Pot.
Used to smoke a bit until mid twenties, nothing much more than a social thing. Last joint was on Soi Rambutri end of last year mainly because it was hard to believe after so many years we could sit around and do it unmolested.

4. I'm on the gear.
The gear has been the biggest challenge I've had to face and I was dealing with addiction for almost a decade. I've heard people say they don't have regrets as it has made them who they are today, or similar type platitudes. I've no problem admitting my drug use is a considerable regret - my life would probably be quite different for the better had I not got mixed up in all that jazz at that age.

5.Women/Men/Sex
Never been much of a player in this arena, not really a bar fine kinda guy. I like women, some women have liked me - my previous two partners have been great Asian women with our relationships based on respect, communication, wanting the other person to be happy in life etc. Not sure if partnership is for me in the future, however. Never say never, of course.

6.Gambling.
This is something I have never been interested in or attracted to.

7. Food.
Grew up with two older sisters who were/are obese and I think being witness to their struggles has kept me mindful of staying trim.

8.Pornography.
Use porn no more than the average single guy or gal, I guess - maybe twice a week.

9. Internet.
I'm currently online 12 hours a day. I'm OK with it for now as I'm soon to return to the workforce for six months which will see that engagement drop considerably.
What's up Kung Fu?
Going all full disclosure on us now?
What's the diagnosis, terminal?

Drugs are normal, coming of age stuff.
I lived in Phuket, almost penetrated a singaporean, because the homo is illegal down there, and a local too, but could not get it up. It's only a vice if you're hetero

I thought Singapore was legalising it.
Not for me.
I went for booze.
Who on earth chose social media?..
Is that what happens when you quit booze?, Is that all that's left?. What about chess?, bodyboarding?,
Soren Kiekergaard went on about how we are trying to fill in for the boredom. I really prefer booze to five more years of being able to like my mates social media posts. They're great guys but is that what it's all for?.
I think a good questionaire would be how many have kids and love it/regret it and how many want kids/don't want kids and maybe reasons why.
Otherwise what are we all doing?, sitting around getting drunk deciding if we want to like someone's CEO post or social media status. Adriana walked 5.7 km today. Cool. What am I supposed to say if she walks 4.9km tomorrow?. "Keep you're chin up Adriana, there's always tomorrow", is that life?. Is that the peak?.

ZOUK discotheque was a place for gay people to meet up, parts of Geylang, and after hours Newton Circus

Unsure if any of you saw a film called "Saint Jack" but it took place in SIngapore in 1979.

Saint Jack was shot entirely on location in various places in Singapore in May and June 1978.
Places featured in the film include the former Empress Place hawker centre (now demolished) and Bugis Street.

The local authorities knew about the book, hence the foreign production crew did not tell them that they were adapting it, fearing that they would not be permitted to shoot the film. Instead, they created a fake synopsis for a film called Jack of Hearts, (what the director called "a cross between Love Is a Many Splendored Thing and Pal Joey"[1]) and most of the Singaporeans involved in the production believed this was what they were making.

As a carpenter I like to think of vice as in a vice to hold something ie not free. So religion is the method to free oneself from the vice . Obviously therefore true religion cannot be a vice. Most likely those who disapprove of religion would be those ignorant ones who prefer to wallow in vice as they have not yet experienced the bliss of freedom from vice.
