Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On March 31, 2023, two brothers were heard by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court of Appeal in connection with the premeditated murder of a village man accused of withcraft, on November 19, 2021, in Kampong Rotes Village, Kandal Province.

Mr. Ly Sokleng, President of the Trial Chamber, stated that the two accused are:
1. Phorn Seihak, alias Phay, male, 34 years old, farmer, residing in Kampong Rotes village, Koh Chen commune, Ponhea Leu district. Kandal Province.
2-Name: Phorn Seiha, Male, 33 years old, Occupation: Construction worker, Residence: Andong Por village, Krala commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province.
The two brothers were convicted of conspiracy to kill the victim, Chenda Sovannarith, male, 41 years old, accusing him of being a witch. They took a weapon to the victim's house in the village, killed him, and dragged the body to a pond, where they dumped it before escaping. They were arrested 3 days later.

The two defendants were sentenced by the Kandal Provincial Court on 28 July 2022 to life imprisonment for premeditated murder under Article 200 of the Penal Code. The verdict of the appeal will be announced on 11 April, 2023.
