Shower with a friend!
Re: Water Shortages in PP
After 12 years in prison I prefer to shower alone.
Better mention that this is just a joke

How about closing all these useless car washes around the city.

The bunch of bozos running the show are getting a hard lesson in the priorities ladder: long-term planning and sustainability are more important than short terms profits. Emergency meeting deals with water shortage in Phnom Penh suburbs
Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority convened an emergency meeting to find solutions to insufficient water supplies in suburbs of Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
The meeting came on the heels of recent developments that have seen some areas on the outskirts of Phnom Penh city facing severe water shortages.
Long Naro, Director-General of Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, said yesterday that trucks are now transporting water to residents in affected areas.
“The Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority is using fire trucks to transport clean water,” he said.
Phnom Penh’s Deputy Governor, Nuon Pharath said the Water Supply Authority had taken a number of measures.
He said that the Phnom Penh Capital Administration has intervened quickly to solve the real challenges of water supply to the people.
He added that good results require participation of residents. Everyone should be alert not to waste large quantities of water.
He added: “Participation requires everyone to stop wasting water. Use less water to wash cars, motorcycles, for watering plants and so on.”
Executive Director at the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability (ANSA) Cambodia, San Chey, believes that there are two short-term and long-term solutions to this problem.
In the short term, the immediate solution is the use of water trucks to supply people living in areas experiencing water shortages.
Also, they can learn about the possibility of building better facilities to prevent shortages of clean water.
“In this case, I do not know how much it affects the environment. One thing for sure is that the people can dig wells in the gated community. Obviously in the countryside, they dig wells near their homes to meet the demand for water.”
He added that the long-term water supply strategy requires the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority to plan ahead with concerned stakeholders the exact volume of water that new developments will need, whether it be for apartment blocks, boreys or homes.

Re: Water Shortages in PP
Consumers in Phnom Penh are asked to reduce their consumption of clean water.
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority on March 31, 2023 requested the cooperation of all industrial and private customers in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City to save water in order to share clean water with the people living on the outskirts of Phnom Penh who are short of water.
In the dry season of 2023, there is a severe shortage of clean water, leaving some suburbs in Phnom Penh and Takhmao without access to clean water for daily use. To address this water shortage before the new water treatment plant opens in early May, the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority asks the population to:
1. Save water by reducing daily water consumption and avoid waste. When possible, reuse water for washing and cleaning.
2- Suspend the use of water directly from the tap and replace it by using a reservoir, bowl, or tank to store water.
3 - Avoid pumping water directly from the water supply, which disrupts the water pressure in the distribution network to the suburbs.
4. When possible, plan water consumption for offpeak hours.
5.Car-wash businesses and their customers should reduce or suspend car washing for March and April 2023.

This could be done, if there was enough pressure to reach the accommodation above the third level .
Re: Water Shortages in PP
The car-washes are clearly not listening, the one near us goes 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Over to you Governor.
Re: Water Shortages in PP
tbf, the city has grown at such a rate over the last 5 years that I don't think any country could have kept pace
They could have refused new projects until the infrastructure was there, but then investors would have gone elsewhere
Catch 22
