Kampot Buffalo Backpacker bus allegation of $35,000 investment scam and hookers and jacuzzi
Re: Kampot Buffalo Backpacker bus allegation of $35,000 investment scam and hookers and jacuzzi
Did you have a work permit to "work the Greenboat bar"? Or did you just steal what's a job that could easily be done by a local employee?

Asking the real questions here
I also doubt he did the 1:10 ratio for foreigners and local employees, I suspect he'll be faced with some hefty fines due to these false accusations

Aside from Geoff's marketing duo and his 1 maintenance guy, Arcadia employs an entirely Cambodian staff. Geoff doesn't take on backpacker volunteers. When I helped at Arcadia I only ever helped if the bar staff were overwhelmed, and then I would prioritise glass collecting and washing up.
On the Greenboat I worked the bar because otherwise Sokom would be doing the barbecue and the bar.
In both cases these jobs were often done by Geoff's Cambodian staff without me, with no help, and no extra staff. I did it only to take some pressure off of the existing staff. So no, categorically I was not taking any local jobs, I was not on any schedule, and I was not being paid. Arcadia continually took on Cambodian staff as it got busier, at no time did they not take someone on because of the voluntary help I was giving. I also regularly paid staff salaries when Sokom was short, and loaned Geoff money to literally keep the lights on at Arcadia.
Do you have any questions that aren't loaded in such a way as to try to make me look like the criminal here? If I have broken the law in any way I will more than happily hold my hands up and accept responsibility.
Now, since I've repeatedly answered any questions, and have evidenced my entire case to the admin here, is it such a stretch to believe my story is true? That I thought this guy was my friend, supported and helped him for years, only for him to fuck me over? You seem to want to pick apart my account - shall I send you my entire 55 page case so you can paw through it for any irregularities that the admin may have missed? I noticed you haven't PM'd me asking for it.
There are plenty of people in Kamppot who know what my situation was at Arcadia, and know that the above account is true.

Well I didn't employ any foreigners, and wasn't employed by Arcadia, but come on - next incorrect assumption please.

Good that you're sharing your story as a warning for people to avoid doing business with any of the persons involved. I heard that you were warned about Geoff and Sokhom by other Kampot expats before getting involved in business with them, but that could just be typical Kampot bar rumours, sorry to hear you had to learn the truth the hard way and I wish you all the best with recovering at least some of your losses.

Hi. Thanks for this. Means a lot.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 7:24 am Good that you're sharing your story as a warning for people to avoid doing business with any of the persons involved. I was warned yeah. Unfortunately at the time I dismissed it as small-town gossip. The only story I knew was that Geoff kicked out a load of backpackers in the early days of COVID. When I tried to arrange a Christmas party at Arcadia before I had my floating house or was living there, I was met with a lot of anti-Arcadia rhetoric all at once. Any future negativity I heard about either of them I always just dismissed as being related to Geoff giving all these backpackers the boot.
Geoff and Sokom had always been good to me, really good. Gave me somewhere to put my house, became close friends with me. Geoff and I even got a place together. And during that time any money I helped them with was always eventually paid back to me. It wasn't until the bus launch that the red flags began to appear. At the time I dismissed them as alcohol/stress, looking back I think Geoff was laying the groundwork to try to fuck me over.
It wasn't until after I realised what Geoff was doing and I published my accusations that I started to hear the stories direct from people who had been affected by them in the past. What I have lost is small compared to what others have lost as a result of dealing with either or both of them.
Would I do anything differently if I had a do-over? Probably not. I had complete faith in them. But I regret enabling and empowering these 2 for so long when they've hurt other people, and could hurt people again.

I have no problem believing that your story is true; it might very well be. I just try to understand if the parties involved are business professionals, scam artists or hapless chancers. At this point I can rule out "business professionals", for all parties involved.BuffaloBackpackerBus wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 7:04 amAside from Geoff's marketing duo and his 1 maintenance guy, Arcadia employs an entirely Cambodian staff. At the very least, you failed to do due diligence and you have a complete disregard for procedure. If your adversary had a masterplan to scam you or if he's just a hapless chancer as well, who knows.

@BuffaloBackpackerBus
How do you know that?
- Geoff's lawyer has said she wont represent him if I take my complaint to police/courts as he can't answer to certain inconsistencies in his claims against me...

Because she told my lawyer so. We asked her for a statement in the event that Geoff couldn't answer for the inconsistencies in his account. She can't represent him if she knows that his version of events are untrue. I pointed out and evidenced all the areas where he was obviously lying, fake expense claims for jobs I paid for etc.

Coming from the guy whose sage advice was 'don't give money to random dudes', I'll take your thinly veiled but opaquely ignorant victim-blaming with a pinch of salt.Alex wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 9:36 amI have no problem believing that your story is true; it might very well be.
