Yeah, maybe... The Al Capone approach, get him for tax fraud first.Big Daikon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:10 amThe above charges seem more substantial to me than paying hush money to a porn star. They may be trickier to prosecute and so the authorities went for the easier win.Random Dude wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 3:38 am Trump is going to be having a busy month. I just saw an article saying he's in court again next week regarding his company's fraud charges, then again later in the month regarding the rape thing.
And then there's still all the other cases to come... trying to overthrow the election, Jan 6, stealing documents, and whatever else I've forgotten about.
Reminds me of one of the variations of the Prisoner's Dilemma.
Something else to remember is they appear to be different entities prosecuting him, I don't know much about the law but wouldn't that mean there's no connection or coordination between the various agencies?

That depends, I guess. State and federal agencies sometimes step all over each other.Random Dude wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 6:18 amYeah, maybe... Because it’s not a simple accounting error, it’s fraud, meaning intentional. Michael Cohen served three (3) years prison for his involvement in this.GMJS-CEO wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:56 am Not sure about these charges. While he’s ultimately responsible for the tax returns, I’d guess he just signs papers placed in front of him as opposed to instructing his accountant how to record things.
I’d also wonder the actual tax impact of the amount written off. Was it excess losses carried to future years and did he ever use the loss for actual tax savings? Or was it carried forward and not yet used?
To me this doesn’t seem significant enough to be a “gotcha” type charge. Not that it’s all roses, but rather something that’s resolved with a tax bill and some penalties instead of all this.
Trump has bragged he knows more about the tax laws than anyone, so it’s a high probability he did more than just sign his name to the papers.
No doubt this type of accounting and submitting false business records has been going on for years, they finally got caught.

In that case the accountant suggesting this fraud would have been sacrificed and be in court. Being a accountant comes with liabilities.GMJS-CEO wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:56 am Not sure about these charges. He's lucky they aren't investigating his role in Epstein's mess.
According to Maria Farmer, Ivana (Trump's ex wife) used to regularly accompany Gislaine Maxwell when she went to schools to procure the "nubiles."

You have to ignore a lot to be a Trump supporter.

They never dreamed Alex Murdaugh would ever go to jail either.

Its "Super Tuesday" for Trump!

Actually the issue with AMI paying for Karen McDougal’s story rights, and then burying it because the CEO and Trump were friends, may be a bigger issue for Trump than Stormy Daniels.
All the charges are falsifying business records.
