BBC will not broadcast Attenborough episode over fear of ‘rightwing backlash

Post by phuketrichard »

wow:
when did reporting the news and or making statement's, get to the point you wont, for fear of "upsetting" someone?

The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of Sir David Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press, the Guardian has been told.

The decision has angered the programme-makers and some insiders at the BBC, who fear the corporation has bowed to pressure from lobbying groups with “dinosaurian ways”.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Years ago. Al-Jazeera, for example, was formed by journalists who left the BBC and other organisations because they felt they were too biased and wanted to challenge predominantly western media.

Try posting anything that doesn't fit the MSM narrative and get shut down or cancelled.

It was evident to Aldous Huxley in 1932, and Orwell before 1949

Can’t. I’m human and it’s not my nature. How does that happen?
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

Interesting. Your statement is seriously flawed because it assumes that humans are entirely determined by their nature, and do not have the ability to change their behavior or overcome their natural inclinations?

Unless, of course, you are actually incapable of changing your behavior? We know you are since you wouldn't have survived this long by not changing your behavior to situations that have posed a risk to your well being/life.

The Guardian...

I suspect they just made it up

While the BBC are pretty shitty, the Guardian frequently just invents shite to suit its bias

That's like not yelling 'fire' because you're scared of offending the arsonist and whoever sold him the can of gas he used to start the fire in the movie theater.

Both sides of any discussion should be aired.
They managed to have a black Anne Boleyn, didn't seem concerned about that.
BBC is in a sad state rarely bother to watch it anymore

BBC bosses have blasted reports they pulled an episode of Sir David Attenborough's Wild Isles series over fears of backlash from Tory MPs, described the claims as "inaccurate". A Guardian article said the broadcaster had "bowed to pressure" after deciding not to air a sixth episode of David Attenborough's Wild Isles that focuses on natural destruction on TV.

It was claimed the episode hosted by Sir David would be kept just on the BBC iPlayer streaming platform, rather than being shown on TV. The reason given for this decision were that its thematic focus on the loss of the natural world would "risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press".

However, after the story was published earlier today (March 10), the BBC issued a statement saying the reports were untrue. It added that the plan for the series - produced by the BBC's Natural History Unit in Bristol - to have five episodes, but with a separate film produced just for the iPlayer.

In a tweet which tagged the Guardian, the BBC's Press Office said: "This is totally inaccurate, there is no ‘6th episode’. Wild Isles is – and always was - a five-part series.

"We acquired a separate film for iPlayer from the RSPB, WWF and Silverback Films about people working to preserve and restore the biodiversity of the British Isles."

The film is expected to focus on the gradual loss of biodiversity and natural life in the UK and what factors are behind this saddening trend.

The BBC's response to the Guardian report came shortly after it confirmed Gary Lineker would not be presenting tomorrow's Match of the Day following tweets he sent comparing language used by the Conservatives in relation to its illegal migration policy to that used by the Nazis in 1930s Germany. A spokesman for the BBC said Lineker would "step back" from the show until there is "an agreed and clear position on his use of social media".
