NEW: Cambodian Sobriety Trainers to Prevent Drink Driving
The Autosobriety training programme to prevent drink-driving kicks off in Cambodia
8 March 2023
An Autosobriety Training Programme to Prevent Drink Driving kicked off at Phnom Penh International University and brought together 22 trainers from local high schools, and public and private universities.
CAMSAFE and the Cambodian Red Cross Phnom Penh Branch joined forces with Pernod Ricard to launch Autosobriety aimed at preventing drunk driving in the country. The event marks the beginning of a concerted effort to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and reduce the number of road accidents caused by intoxicated drivers in Cambodia.
The event was attended by distinguished officials, such as the National Road Safety Committee, the Cambodian Red Cross Phnom Penh branch. During the event, speakers highlighted the importance of safe and responsible driving and emphasized the need to reduce the number of road accidents and fatalities caused by drunk driving.
The Autosobriety Training of Trainers event opens the way for the relevant working group to organize similar training in Preah Sihanouk and Siem Reap Provinces within the upcoming weeks and target 1,230 direct beneficiaries from government institutions, civil society organizations, private sectors, schools/universities and communities.

Re: NEW: Cambodian Sobriety Trainers to Prevent Drink Driving
Oh no , that’s the main thing I like about this country ,
Drinking and driving almost feels legal
I drive drunk all the time and the cops don’t bother me at all
If I see a roadblock of police they don’t seem to mind if I pull over before I get there to put my helmet on

It's like asking Perdue Pharma to fight the opioids epidemic...

The cost of this "help" is clearly small potatoes compared to the potential benefit coming out of this disguised publicity campaign, in this small country representing so very very little of their global market share...
Why not trust China to protect rhinos horns and shark fins while we're at it ?

This looks promising ???
Cambodia Holds Third Autosobriety Trainer Training to Curb Drink-Driving
The two-day event was hosted by CAMSAFE and UNITAR with the support of Pernod Ricard Cambodge and the participation of the Siem Reap Province.
During the session, the attendees were guided through a detailed presentation of the four modules of the Autosobriety Training Programme.
The first module was presented by a Cambodian Red Cross representative focusing on past and current road traffic accidents and fatalities in Cambodia.
CAMSAFE representatives covered the second module which was about the influence of alcohol on the body. They demonstrated the impact of alcohol on driving performance through a Virtual Reality video. (See above).
The Provincial Police Commissariat of Siem Reap presented the third module, which covered the current legislation regarding drinking and driving in Cambodia.
Finally, a group discussion training activity was held to exchange teaching practices on how to avoid drinking and driving.
