Sparks Fire Up Electric Cables on Phnom Penh Street
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 3:20 pm on March 1, 2023, an entanglement of electric cables sparked a fire on an electric pole T.B 479-318 on St. 199, Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 1, Khan Boeung Keng Kong, Phnom Penh.
When they saw the sparks catching alight, some people passing in the street called the fire brigade, who sent a team to get the fire under control before it spread to the nearby houses.

This is probably a really stupid question but... why doesn't the power flow back down the water flow and energise the truck? I know it's not a solid body of water but electricity jumps when needed. Just wondering...

I’m sort of hoping that the supply has been turned off by this point, as it does strike me that Cambodian appreciation of not mixing water and electricity is generally pretty low.
The fact that these cable bundles so readily sustain a fire is a bit of a concern.

Maybe the sub-station has an earth and a 10,000,000 amp circuit breaker....Freightdog wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 9:52 am I’m sort of hoping that the supply has been turned off by this point, as it does strike me that Cambodian appreciation of not mixing water and electricity is generally pretty low.

Firemen are trained to put out electric fires and if they use the correct procedures they can do it safely using water.
Main thing is set the water sprayer to spray more like a 'mist' of tiny water droplets not interconnected, they can change the character of the water by turning the head of the water cannon. I assume that's what these buddies did.
In this case, 220V at 32 Ampere max I think they wouldn't even bother as long as they wear rubber boots.
