Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Foreigners Try to Assist Man Who was Hacked Nearly to Death

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Phnom Penh, Cambodia: A Cambodian was attacked and hacked nearly to death by strangers while he was riding his motorbike in the city last night.

They put a tourniquet on his arm that was almost severed, and offered him a cigarette and some water.

Video is starting to go viral on Facebook.

Not at all surprised to see that it's some foreigners who try to help while the locals just stand around talking, pointing, laughing, and taking photos. Sick.

To be fair for those Cambodians, actually no one was laughing, they were calling for ambulance. They didn't just gather around and take picture of the victim. I know that most of foreigners thought that posting such gross pictures and video on facebook or whatever is really unacceptable, however there is good side to it. In case, the family of the victim couldn't reach via phone, they might see it on facebook and come to see the victim.

I personally have no problem with people documenting/filming fucked up things in the world, UNLESS the person filming could be helping the person in distress. That's where I see a problem.

So if you see someone drowning, and instead of doing something to help, you just start filming, that's fucked up.

And if/when I have a nasty motorboat accident and laid out in the middle of the street, I'd rather have the Cambodian rubber-neckers stand there filming than try to "help" by sitting me up, rubbing tiger balm on me and making sure my neck and all my other joints can move.

One late night I drove up to a small crowd of people around a dude on the road who I thought was dead laying next to his moto.

They obviously didn't know what do to. A few looked at me, like I was going to be able to do emergency surgery on the spot.

One guy was on the phone, and it was clear he was calling a hospital or something.

Him and his buddies where just about to try and get him up, and you could tell the person on the other end was like, "STOP! DON'T DO THAT. DON'T MOVE HIM AND JUST WAIT FOR THE AMBULANCE."

They stopped instantly. Maybe saved his life, who knows.

Please correct me if i get this wrong. Isn't motorboat a small and often fast boat which is driven by an engine? If so, how could you would be laid out in the middle of the street if you had an accident. You should had been in the water i guess. I am confusing, i didn't realise that you could drive motorboat on the street.

i think i have to have a tiger balm in my pocket every time i go out with friends, so when i see expats have traffic accident, at least i can use tiger balm to help relieve their pain instead of just walking around and looking at the victim. :ROFL2:

Theirs bad, they shouldn't have stopped people from helping other people in distress.
