Cruise Ships (and Tourists) Return to Cambodia's Shores
Sihanoukville welcomes the return of the international cruise ships and their many foreign passengers.
A Cruise Ship Visit Carrying 500 Multinational Tourists Visit Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, February 22, 2023 --
Nautica, a cruise ship sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands, in on a day-long visit in Cambodia.
The cruise ship with 535 tourists of 36 different nationalities on board docked at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port this morning.
According to an immigration police officer, most of the tourists are American, and the rest are Canadian, British, and so on.
The cruise ship of some 180 metres long, 30.2 metres wide and 6.2 metres deep is scheduled to leave Preah Sihanouk province for Vietnam this evening.
The docking of Nautica shows that Cambodia with a good control of the COVID-19 pandemic is a safe country to visit. Thanks to the Royal Government’s right policy to boost the COVID-19 vaccination, Cambodia was able to reopen the country and resume its socio-economic activities since November 2021.

Seabourn is part of the ultra luxury cruise line segment. These passengers have serious money, and want to know about local history and culture. Good for Cambodia.

Re: Cruise Ships (and Tourists) Return to Cambodia's Shores
What's with the obsession about passenger numbers, detailed breakdowns of their nationalities, including the crew, and name and the length and width of the boat?
The only noteworthy thing here is the fact they stayed for less than a day, so this hardly qualifies as a boon for tourism. I bet they took a load of photos, bought a few bottles of water and got back on board to continue with their rolling 24-hour buffet.
One retiree who likes the booze and ladies makes a better contribution to GDP in a year than that shipload.

Yes, I'm sure they learned a lot about the amazing history and culture of Kampong Som during their two hours ashore.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 9:02 pm Seabourn is part of the ultra luxury cruise line segment. Silence, exile, and cunning.

Yeah, they learned that April is a shitty month to be in this part of the world. They should have stayed in the Caribbean.John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 10:12 amYes, I'm sure they learned a lot about the amazing history and culture of Kampong Som during their two hours ashore.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 9:02 pm Seabourn is part of the ultra luxury cruise line segment. The passengers visiting SHV will think that Cambodia is a modern country docking at a a new pier, skycrapers everywhere, casinos galore, cheap beer and affordable woman. Been there, done that.
