I've seen this done before, a new restaurant with 'pay what you think is fair', or something like that as their gimmick.
I think they lasted a few weeks before they went out of business.

What the heck is "ethically sourced river fish"?

Dunno, maybe you ask the fish really nicely if it wants to be caught in your net?

I'd be very interested to see a breakdown of the results of this, more as a social experiment than anything else. I wonder how many people really would abuse it, eat as much as they could and basically pay sod all without a care, compared to those that paid the suggested price, or even those who might decide to pay a little over the odds as a returned goodwill gesture kind of thing.
I've never heard the place but if the owner is on here, or anyone knows the owner, I doubt I'd be the only one interested in some feedback as to how it went.

Marketing.
A place that at least one person on here had never heard of is getting some publicity.
I don't think most who go there will take them for all they can and pay nada or way under value. I reckon most people are inherently pretty decent.
Smart move

The people who will flock to the bar for something like this aren't drinking f*cking craft beers.Grand Barong wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:48 pm What an awesome promotion, gets people talking & new customers in the door to try their huge range of tap beers... 20? i think they advertise

It's part of menu bullshit salad: Ethically, locally and sustainably sourced. This means we bought it (ethical) at a nearby market (local) and they will have plenty more tomorrow (sustainable).

Ethically might mean the grand kids weren’t all in a boat lobbing grenades over the side.
