Previously, the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court on October 25, 2022 ordered the three men to be remanded in custody on charges of "trafficking in human beings, illegal detention and intimidation" under Article 17 of the law on the Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation, in accordance with Article 253, 336 of the Penal Code.

Following their conviction, the three men first appealed before the Sihanoukville Court of Appeal, which upheld the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court's decision. Defendants then continued to appeal to the Supreme Court in Phnom Penh, which has ordered their release.

As in how much was paid?
It would be interesting to read what the actual grounds were but that was the first thing I thought of after reading Chinese, kidnapping, extortion and Sookyville.

I’m fairly certain that whatever is behind the release order, the written legal grounds for release might have to be something else.
