Supreme Court orders release of three Chinese men convicted of human trafficking and kidnapping

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Supreme Court on the morning of February 20, 2023 announced the decision to release three Chinese defendants who were convicted of kidnapping and extortion of a woman, after being arrested in Koki Village, Bit Trang Commune, Prey Nob District, Preah Sihanouk Province during 2022. They were arrested on August 23, 2022 in Sihanoukville.
Mr. You Ottara, Chief Judge of the Supreme Court, said that the three accused are:
1. YU GONG CHENG, male, 30 years old (born in 1990), Chinese.
2- LIU YUAN HUANG, Male, 36 years old (born in 1986).
3- YU XUN CAI, Male, 32 years old, (born in 1992), Chinese.
Previously, the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court on October 25, 2022 ordered the three men to be remanded in custody on charges of "trafficking in human beings, illegal detention and intimidation" under Article 17 of the law on the Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation, in accordance with Article 253, 336 of the Penal Code.
Following their conviction, the three men first appealed before the Sihanoukville Court of Appeal, which upheld the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court's decision. Defendants then continued to appeal to the Supreme Court in Phnom Penh, which has ordered their release.

As in how much was paid?
It would be interesting to read what the actual grounds were but that was the first thing I thought of after reading Chinese, kidnapping, extortion and Sookyville.

Back story: The three Chinese men in the OP were arrested in a compound in Koki village, Bit Trang commune, Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province, in connection with the detention of a Malaysian national. Cambodia News (Preah Sihanouk): On 23 August 2022, Sihanoukville Police cracked down on and arrested five Chinese men for human trafficking in connection with the detention of a Malaysian woman, who was illegally detained in Sihanoukville.
Sihanoukville police said that the arrests of the suspects occurred after the police received information on the hotline that a Malaysian woman was being forcibly held by the suspects and made to work in a company in Sihanoukville.
Two men were arrested in the company complex in Village 5, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, while the other three suspects were apprehended in another company compound, in Koki village, Bit Trang commune, Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province (where the Malaysian woman was found and freed).
Currently, the five suspects have been sent to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police for further questioning.
