Power outage

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Power outage

Post by vladimir »

Yesterday from 11AM, still continuing.

South of 271 towards Phsar PC and 371, large area affected.

Apparently some genius working on a storm-water drain or sewer trench cut the cable.

Then they must have tried to 'fix it', and a larger area went out.

Hopefully they then went home and committed hara-kiri.

Opposite neighbours in our street without power since 11am yesterday, ours stayed on until about 10pm then stopped, came back on about half an hour ago and is still working. Quite a hot night.

Exactly the same thing in my street. You and i must be on the same circuit, you lucky dog!

Btw, my Chinese battery fan gave up the ghost just before this (wow, the Chinese made a bad product?), so I advise people not to buy same.

I can get it wired to run off mains only, so not a total loss.

Well, that's always the first thing they do. Whatever they are trying to repair there is always immediately some idiot that cuts the power cable. It's a kind of nationwide syndrome.

We were caught in traffic the other day as workers intentionally brought down a whole set of power lines over the road ahead of us by simply snaking a hole digger over them and clawing downwards. Simple, yet brutally effective.
