Cambodia News, (Kampong Speu): Police of Thpong District arrested four assailants and sent them to Kampong Speu Provincial Police, on the afternoon of February 12, 2023, after the assailants ambushed the victim's car, and then later took on the police officers in hand-to-hand combat.

Colonel Hun Sok Hon, Police Inspector of Thpong District, said that at 19:40 on February 11, 2023, there was a case of intentional damage, including death threats, by a group of three men: all aged about 20. There are further charges of violence for a brawl which occured the next day against law enforcement agents, involving the father of one of the men, aged 47, at his house.


Thpong District Police Inspector confirmed that the events started on the night of Feb 11, when the primary victim, Roeun Thorn, male, was driving a black Toyota Corolla with license plate Phnom Penh 2R.6974, back to his home. Suddenly he saw the group of three men blocking the road, armed with a knife, sword, and a stick. The car driver shouted for help, but the assailants pulled out a sword and a stick and beagan to beat the car, damaging the top of the roof. The victim drove away, chased by the men until they arrived in front of the victim's house, where he escaped and locked the doors.


Colonel Thpong District Police Inspector continued that: On the morning of February 12, 2023, yesterday, he sent the forces under his command to identify and arrest the assailants in Teuk Long 1 village, Thpong district, Kampong Speu province, where they found the suspects sitting and drinking outside a house, and they asked to search the property for weapons.
Then, suddenly, the suspect's father who owns the house, 47-year-old On Tol, came to attack the police with two swords, a knife, an ax, a pair of scissors and a hoe. (sic) A general brawl followed, lasting two hours,between the police and the group of suspects at the village house, where the son of the house even used a homemade air rifle, and the other men furiously attacked the officers with sticks and steel pipes.

After finally overcoming the armed resistancecracking down on the four perpetrators, the police arrested them and confiscated two motorcycles, including a Honda MSX without a license plate and another Honda motorcycle.
After the interrogation, the district authorities prepared a case, and sent the perpetrators and the weapons cited above to the specialized office of the Kampong Speu Provincial Police for further action.
