6 hour power outage yesterday?

Post by wanderer7777 »

Rent an apartment in a family owned building here in TTP.
Yesterday electric went out from 10;30 AM to 4;30 for the entire building.. Unusually long time.
Strange thing was that after about 2 hours I went out and saw the neighbors had their fans and TVs on.
So it wasn''t an outage for the block. Just this building.
Couldn't get a strait answer from the owner.

Just curious, anyone else have problems yesterday?

Sounds like they didn't pay the bill and got cut off. The do disconnections in the mornings and reconnections in the afternoon, as long as you are quick enough to go and pay the bill and grease the wheels for a speedy reconnection.

I have a bitter experience of this with my water. I got cut off for a $2. This turned into a $30 day with tuks, a translator, paying the bill, paying for the reconnection and a $10 bribe to get it connected later that day.

It was a good lesson in Cambodian logic and ruthlessness. They see nothing absurd in disconnection for a $2 bill which creates a $20 problem for a local(reconnection fee and tea money for same-day service) and much more for a foreigner who can't speak the language and has never visited the illogical labyrinth that is the PPWA.
