Tears Flow as Parents Step Up to Get Degree for Deceased Son
Cambodia News, (Svay Rieng): Tears flowed and there was not a dry eye in the stadium at an emotional graduation ceremony held at Svay Rieng University, when two parents went to collect the university degree earned by their son, Sathea, who died in an accident in 2022.
The student had achieved a Science degree in mathematics, and he was aiming to continue his higher education with a master's degree, hoping to become a teacher or professor. According to his family and friends, he was kind, loyal, and hard-working.
The youth died in a tragic accident on 31 August 2022, while he was on holiday after university, staying with his parents. He was working with his father to repair the roof of the family house, when he was electrocuted with a welder.
Sam Thavy's Facebook account posted several pictures and an emotional video of the ceremony showing the parents accepting the degree certificate, and the students from Sathea's graduation class left messages of regret: "Gone too soon".
The parents thanked the university for allowing them to participate in the graduation ceremony and honor the memory of their son.

^ I’ve been gone too long, so my outsider spectacles have begun to fuse with my face. I do forget these things now until reminded.
