Breaking: Two Dead in Sihanoukville Club Fire

Cambodia Breaking News, Sihanouk Province: A preliminary report by Sihanoukville police states that a nightclub fire that broke out at 9pm tonight, 30 January 2023, has left two people dead.

A fire broke out inside an entertainment club called "Julie & Anna Tokyo" in Village 2, Sangkat 3, Sihanouk City, Sihanouk Province. General Choun Narin, Commissioner of Police in Sihanouk Province, told the news network that the the first indications are that the fire was caused by a welding torch that short-circuited.
The welder, Phan Makara, is one of the deceased, and the other death is that of an 18-year-old woman, Hun Srivet. Two other people were severely injured and sent to hospital. The fire has been contained.

Cambodia News, Sihanoukville: According to the authorities, at 8:20 pm on January 30, 2023, a fire broke out in the Julie and Anna Tokyo Club in Sihanoukville, Village 3, Sangkat 3, killing two people who died in hospital.

Authorities also received preliminary information that the fire was caused by negligence due to welding on the roof, and that sparks fell on the sofas and speakers in the club, causing them to ignite.
The staff in the club panicked, suffocated and fainted in the club and were rescued by the Sihanoukville Police in cooperation with the Royal Cambodian Gendarmerie.

After the incident, the police brought the club owner and the club manager to the Sihanoukville city inspectorate for questioning.
