Cambodia News, (Banteay Meanchey Province): The Provincial Gendarmerie sent a man to the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court on January 28, 2023 charged with "grooming" an underage girl on social media in order to have sex with her. The two had been exchanging messages for some time when the suspect asked the girl to come to his province and meet him in a guest house.

Lieutenant Colonel Prohm Theng, director of the Criminal Investigation and Suppression Department of the Provincial Gendarmerie, said that the man, Huot Ker, is a 45-year-old dentist. After being arrested, the suspect confessed that he set up a fake Facebook account of a much younger man in order to trick the girl into having sex with him.




The arrest of the suspect resulted from a complaint to the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Provincial Police by the older brother of a 17-year-old girl living in Kirivong district, Takeo province. He contacted the authorities when he discovered that his sister was secretly planning to take a bus from her hometown in Takeo province to Srey Sophorn City in Banteay Meanchey to meet an unknown man, ( a "Facebook friend"), in a guest house there.

As a result, agents from the Banteay Meanchey Anti-Trafficking Police met the teenage girl off the bus at Srey Sophorn staion, and then went to the guest house to arrest the man at 9:50 pm on January 26, 2023. He will be charged with online fraud committed with the intention of having sex with a minor aged under 18.

I'm guessing with a name like Hout Ker, despite the pixellation, he's Khmer, so unless the girl was a westerner, I'm not sure of the relevance of this being on here?

I don't mean to belittle the crime, it's clearly a serious one, but considering this board is primarily about Cambodian matters that relate to westerners.... am I missing something?

Wonder if he wore a hairnet over whatever is hanging off his face when working in patients..

Perhaps I don't use the site often enough but most of the crimes I read about on here seem to either involve westerners or have some kind of impact on westerners.
