Former Deputy Director of Department of Environment Sentenced To 5 Years Prison For Forest Destruction
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On January 25, 2023, the Supreme Court of Phnom Penh sentenced the former deputy director of the Department of Environment to 5 years in prison for destroying over 5 hectares of forest in Anlong Borviet (Thmor Kram) region of Koh Ktom village, Chieb commune, Teuk Phos district, Kampong Chhnang province in the period from 2016 to 2019.
The convicted man, Boeu Bunthon, aged 53, was first arrested in Koh Ktom village, Chieb commune, Teuk Phos district, Kompong Chhnang province on July 16, 2019, and he has now been sentenced.
