Driver Detained Over Fatal Accident with Teen Motorcyclists
Cambodia News (Kandal Province): On January 17, 2023, on St. 70B in Veal Thom village, Kandal province, the 40-year-old driver of a Toyota Hilux Vigo pickup truck, (PNH 1BF-8968), was detained by police, after 2 teens on a motorbike were killed when they collided with his vehicle.
The deceased victims were Keurt Viceht, a 16-year-old boy from Koh Reah Leu village, Koh Reah commune, Lvea Em district, Kandal province, and Sun Phanut, a 15-year-old boy from the same village.
According to the source, the two teenagers were driving a Honda Dream motorbike (PNH 1GD-5598)in a west to east direction, when they drove out into the left lane, directly colliding with the pickup truck driver who was driving in the opposite direction. The driver had no chance to avoid hitting the motorcycle, and the two boys, who were not wearing helmets, were killed instantly due to the impact of the crash.
The Hilux driver was immediately detained by the authorities, and the two accident vehicles were taken to the police station for further proceedings.
