Why would someone build a international airport only 40 kilometers away from another international airport in Sihanoukville? It is not like the airport in sihanoukville is to crowded nowadays, and unlikely to be so in the next decade. And it is no great expedition voyage to get to the island from Sihanoukville. 3 cold beers and You are there.

Because they get to strip out luxury hardwoods all over the island and legally sell them for megabucks on the pretext of clearing the airport siteTommie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 1:49 pm Why would someone build a international airport only 40 kilometers away from another international airport in Sihanoukville? Hey, it's eco tourism airport! Eco tourists need their own airport.Tommie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 1:49 pm Why would someone build a international airport only 40 kilometers away from another international airport in Sihanoukville? But Koh Samui has own airport even though there is airport 60km away in Surat Thani. Neither of them being close to their max capacity. Multiple other similar cases around the world.

Regards the airport- they seem to have built in some obsolescence and scope for further development, by utilising a design and layout that was out of date last century.
