Environmental Issues in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I see the words Sustainable I buy more bullets.

IDFK how Styrofoam hasn't been banned globally. But the CO2 from my car....ya know....thats the problem.

Sitting in traffic...saw a cute young Khmer girl, she must have been 5 or 6 years old. She was done drinking her cup of ice with a splash of sting in it. She just drops it right in the middle of the street while on the back of her fathers moto.

No fucking hope. ZERO!

@Jamie
The paradox here is that I completely agree with everyone that Cambodia needs a cleanup.
When these guys from EcoSense first posted, I just went to see who they were as a result of reading UT's post about marketing stategy. It took me to Dow Chemical Co. When I got no answers from them on the forum, I kept looking (and finding!) links between EcoSense, so-called environmentally-friendly products and companies, and Dow Chemical Co.
I'm naturally skeptical. I don't really think that the EcoSense-Cambodia people are dishonest. I just wonder if the people involved in this aren't being used to promote products from a company who is totally unscrupulous.

Do you think you could post the questionaire here, JL or Ecosense ? Just to see.

In any case, cleanups are GOOD. See my first post before getting suspicious about motives. :thumb: Dying to hear how this works out. I'd also be good with getting rid of as much of those styrofoam takeaway packs as much as possible.

And AJ - I hear they are now making bullets out of sustainable materials and so when the cops have a shootout it will now be environmentally-friendly. :) :beer1:

Unfortunately for you, the name of your ? company is also a Dow chemical trademark. The obvious way to find out if you are connected was to ask you and since you didn't answer I just kept prodding until I got a response from you. Shame it took 3 pages.

Dow Chemical has previous form on green-washing, so there was reason behind the suspicion.
As you can see here, they are selling environmentally-friendly products: http://www.dow.com/en-us/markets-and-so ... osense919/

If this has nothing to do with you and that was just an unfortunate choice of name, then I apologize, but Dow is everywhere - also recycled food packaging for example: http://www.dow.com/packaging/sustainabi ... covery.htm

Are you selling something? Are you sure it has nothing to do with Dow ?
Is it possible that your biodegradable food packaging is manufactured by Dow? Do you even know who is the manufacturer ?
Maybe you should change your name.

All the best, AM
Good evening to you Anchor Moy!

We are importing and distributing biodegradable, disposable and compostable food packaging, made from bagasse raw material. Our manufacturer is trustful, and match's with our values and requirements. And it is NOT a "Dow" manufacture.

Developing a project is a tough job, especially in a foreign country. But wherever you live, once your project is about importing goods, then you better make sure your partners (manufacturer, transporter etc ...) are reliable. The only way to find out, is to visit them, and see by yourself. This is what we did.

If you have more questions regarding Dow, please, contact them directly.

Thank you for the suggestion of changing name, but sorry, refused ;)

Have a nice evening! :hattip:

It's between radicalising and vaporising in your dictionary.
Indeedly.

^^It's alright. I think native English speakers give too much importance to their own abilities and hold it above other's heads.

Sorry of what I said earlier, I assumed the connection to the Dow Chemical Company. If you're all for environmental cleanup, power to you and your cause, this country is filthy.

To be honest, we did not expect so many negative reactions and strong attacks about our little project. I do not question the fact that it is possible to have doubts about the identity of someone or something. However, this does not prevent reacting tactfully, with respect and diplomacy, especially when wearing such large unfounded charges. We are completely in good faith, we take risks by investing our own small savings, we take risks to try to do what really is important to us.

Unfortunately, there will always be people to criticize what others do, that's one thing that we had almost forgotten I have to say. But it seems that people on this forum are there to remind us with great insistence. It is sad, but it's like that. :)

Once and for all, I wish to close the debate on the Dow.co whatever. We have nothing to do with them, and for those who wish to meet with us to learn more, and although it is a pleasure, in joy and good mood.

Peace.
