Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Supreme Court on the morning of January 11, 2023 adjourned the hearing of the appeal of a Singaporean Chinese man, who was previously sentenced by a lower court to 25 years in prison on charges of manufacturing, storing, and trafficking drugs in Phnom Penh during 2018.

Soeng Panhavuth, the presiding judge of the Supreme Court, said that the accused was a 71-year-old man from Singapore, Ky Peng Ho. In this case, the defendent Ky Peng Ho was sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on August 25, 2019 to 25 years imprisonment and a fine of 80 million Riels to pay into the state budget on charges of illegal drug trafficking "Articles 39 and 40 of the Law on Drug Control.

The Singaporean man was arrested on March 21, 2018 at Bali Apartment, Room B1, 19th Floor, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh. During the arrest, the police confiscated nearly 1 kg of drugs, drug production materials, and some other drug items from his room.

Appeal Verdict Pending for 71Yo

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On March 13, 2023, a 71-year-old Singaporean man, Ki Penghor, was granted an appeal hearing for his 25 year sentence, which was pronounced when he as convicted of producing over 1kg of drugs in 2018. He was arrested in Bali Apartments, room #B1, floor 19, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkar Maun, Phnom Penh, on March 21, 2018.

The Singaporean and a coconspirator were sentenced to 25 years in prison and an 80 million riels fine at the First Instant Court of Phnom Penh on August 25, 2019. The two then appealed unsuccessfully to the Court of Appeal.
The Singaporean defendent has now filed another appeal before the Supreme Court of Phnom Penh; the final verdict will be announced on March 20, 2023.

The accused was arrested on March 21, 2018, at Bali Apartment, Room B1, 19th Floor, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh. Following the police raid, officers confiscated more than 1 kg of drugs and manufacturing equipment from the man's room.
