Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 8 pm on January 9, 2023, in front of the Tela Petrol Station along Russian Federation Road in Phnom Penh, two women riding a Honda motorcycle were hit by a Lexus RX-300 from behind when they did a u-turn without signaling.

According to sources at the scene, the two women were seen riding a white Honda Bit motorcycle, with license plate Phnom Penh 1IV-2310, traveling from west to east, but then they turned back, and while turning on a narrow part of the road, they were hit by a Lexus from behind. The driver braked, but could not avoid hitting the motorcycle, and one of the women was injured and sent to hospital.

After the incident, local authorities arrived and allowed the two parties to negotiate for more than an hour before the two sides came to an agreement, with the Lexus driver paying US$100 compensation to the motorcyclists to put an end to the matter.

It probably works out much cheaper than buying insurance.

The occasional prang costs $100, if you kill someone it's a bit more, maybe $5000.

What would be the annual insurance policy for a $100,000 car in a place like this?

Less than insurance on a Vauxhall nova for a person with a 20 year no claims bonus would be in the UK

Wealthy? That car is about 20 years old, and the car driver wasn't at fault. I was in a truck a couple of years ago and an idiot on a moto pulled out from a blind side street. There wasn't time to fully stop so the idiot got hit and broke her hip. Even though the police and "victim's" family agreed it wasn't our fault my friend had to pay a few thousand because his truck was new. :?

Whatever kind of vehicle, when there's a local driver 95% of them shouldn't be allowed on the roads. In this case the motorbike rider should of course be paying for the damages to the car.
