A young man commits suicide in front of his handicapped father

Cambodia News, Battambang: A young man, who is a drug addict, killed himself in front of his crippled father in a cassava field, at 3 pm on January 4, 2023, in Bos Dong village, Bassac commune, Rukkiri district, Battambang province.
The deceased youth was identified as 22-year-old Ruth Chen, who used a cassava knife to cut his own throat, causing his sudden death.

According to family sources, the youth was mentally unstable and addicted to drugs, and he was always disappearing from his home for days at a time, and never helping his disabled father with the farmwork. On this occasion, the young man had disappeared from the house for two days before he returned to the cassava farm, and on his return, he grabbed a knife and used it to put an end to his life in front of his shocked father.

The police, who went to the scene to autopsy the body, concluded that the deceased had killed himself by cutting his throat with a knife, after which it was handed over to the family for a traditional ceremony.
