2-Year-Old Dies in Fall from Father's Tuktuk

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A terrible accident occurred at 12:00 pm on January 3, 2023, at the Kour Srov roundabout in Khan Dongkor, Phnom Penh, when a 2-year-old girl was run over by a dumpster truck after she fell off a PassApp tuk-tuk.

Before the accident, the little girl was riding in her father's tuk-tuk at the busy roundabout, when suddenly she dropped her bottle of water and leaned down to catch it. Tragically, she fell out of the tuk-tuk on to the road, where she was run over by the truck and died instantly.

According to the girl's father, he is a tuktuk driver and their family is poor, so he and his wife work full-time, and because there is nobody at home to look after their daughter, in the daytime, he would take the girl with him in the tuktuk while he was working.

Very sad for all concerned. RIP.

I watched this on the news on Tuesday. Heartbreaking for the family and you have to feel for the truck driver. Serious bad luck had it been a different vehicle it may have avoided the tragedy but the driver had no chance. Shame they don't have seat belts in these passapps.

They do, most of them, certainly for the drivers seat

Whether still installed or in use is a different matter

She was only 2 years old, the father was doing his best to look after her, and the truck driver didn't deserve that either.
What a mess.
