Angry Druggie Shoots Up Kids in Phnom Penh Street
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 9 pm on January 3, 2023, six people were injured in a shooting incident in Andong 3 village, Sangkat Kork Kar, Khan Prek Pnov, in which two men who went there to buy drugs became angry and pulled out a gun, firing it randomly at the group of young people and children who were standing around in the street.
The 6 victims are:
1- Chao Meng Heng, 18 years old (male)
2- Thol Kimly, 15 years old (male)
3- Sok Tith 18 years old (male)
4- Leng Channy 1 year old (female)
5-Thi Muy Sing, 11 years old
6- Leng Rattanak, 7 years old.
According to sources at the scene, before the incident, a gunman, along with his accomplice, entered the village and called out to a boy in the street to go and buy some drugs for him, but the boy refused to go. The gunman then pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the kid, hitting the victim in the leg, and then firing off five more shots, causing serious and minor injuries to the bunch of teenagers and children who were gathered at the scene.
Neighbors heard the gunshots and contacted local authorities who arrived immediately and arrested the two gunmen. From the preliminary information, fortunately it seems that nobody was seriously wounded in the shooting, as there has been no reports to the contrary so far.

UPDATE
CEO News: There was a lot of confusion at the scene of the shooting, involving some very young children, so all the stories don't match up, but this is what the mother of one of the children said to the khmer media:
The two unknown men arrived at the scene around 9pm, and they told the woman's 18-year-old son to go and score some drugs for them. When the youth refused to get the drugs, the men became aggressive, and a fight broke out. One of the outsiders pulled out a handgun and fired a shot into the ground, which riccocheted into the leg of a 15-year-old boy, who then ran off and tried to get the bullet out by himself. Some adults asked the boy what happened to him, and when they saw the bullet wound, they called the cops straight away.
It is not clear how many of the children were actually injured by bullets, but they were all very shocked, and their parents were also in a state of near-panic after the gunshot was fired close to the kids. At least one child was hit by a bullet, and there will be further information as it comes in.

The villagers also said that the police seemed to know the gunmen, because they treated them with familiarity and questioned them casually, making light of the shooting as if it were a joke. The local people said that they have seen the officers in question drinking and gambling while on duty, so they do not trust them to be honest.

That looks like a BB pellet wound, not a bullet wound
Source: we used shoot each other with BB's back in my teens

Bet the villagers wish they beat them to a pulp now
Nothing good happens at a cop shack after 5pm, not surprised they were drunk..

I don't remember handguns being a problem over here until the Chinese invasion.

‘News reports of children shot not true’
[excerpts]
Three teenagers and children, including a 17-month-old baby girl, were allegedly shot when one of the victims refused to buy drugs for the gunman, allegedly a military policeman.
Oun Phos, Kork Roka commune deputy police chief, said yesterday the news reports were not correct and that only Meng Heng, Kimly and the baby girl were injured during the shooting incident.
“They were not hit by bullets but concrete fragments when the bullet hit the concrete floor.”
The fragments injured Meng Heng and Kimly in their left leg while the baby girl was grazed in the ear when a concrete bit hit her, Phos said

Re: Angry Druggie Shoots Up Kids in Phnom Penh Street
^^^ Umm, yeah, but why did they have a gun in the first place?
Why is it that all bad guys have got guns these days?
This needs to be nipped in the bud real quick!

Yep, disputing the number of children who actually recieved a bullet is unimportant nit-picking.Username Taken wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 10:53 am ^^^ Umm, yeah, but why did they have a gun in the first place?

The point is that petty criminals and druggies all seem to be carrying a gun these days, and whatsmore, the guns are loaded and they are shooting at unarmed victims (even a bunch a kids FFS.)
BTW, there might be a clue from the Khmer Times here :
That would explain the gun.Three teenagers and children, including a 17-month-old baby girl, were allegedly shot when one of the victims refused to buy drugs for the gunman, allegedly a military policeman.
Re: Angry Druggie Shoots Up Kids in Phnom Penh Street
the higher the rank - the higher the probability the shot wound was the result of an unfortunate richocet (often also in combination with the gun firing itself without being triggered - by dropping onto the ground)
