AI Robot gives evidence to House Of Lords Committee in the UK

Post by Doc67 »

Unfortunately, the committee sent the robot to sleep, but once she was woken up and re-set, she did her thing.

The subject matter was how technology affects art and the robot, Ai-da (get it?) is the world's first Ai robot artist.

In a groundbreaking hearing, a robot “gave evidence” to a House of Lords committee on Tuesday – where it read typos from its pre-written script, struggled to hear questions, and needed to be rebooted halfway through the session.

“Ai-Da”, described by its creator, Aiden Meller, as “the world’s first ultra-realistic robot artist”, appeared in front of the Lords communications and digital committee as part of its inquiry into the future of the creative industries in the UK.

The chair of the committee, Tina Stowell, emphasised at the outset that it was “a serious inquiry”, before explaining to Meller that “the robot is providing evidence but it is not a witness in its own right, and it does not occupy the same status as a human. You as its creator are ultimately responsible for its statements”.

That statement seems odd, as the whole point of Ai is to program the thing and it gets on with it on it's own.

Anyway, meet AiDa...

I am surprised the sexualised 'her' at all, given the minefield that will lay in the future. She seems easy on the eye too, so that will be banned by ugly women.

It was a bit eerie when he was talking and she was gently turning her head at the members. He did mention the issue that humanizing the robot and the difficultly people have with the expericence.

Here's the full video, Aida and her creator start at 1:03:00

p.s. I quite like hanging out in the techie zone, some good stuff here :D

I did think that was a bit off. It’s lords, not commons.

The other fleeting thought was ‘what percentage of CEO would not hesitate to give it one?’

The MPs could use her for the sex parties they like to have on their foreign trips.
