Look out, here they come!
Just when you thought it was safe to go to Angkor Wat - China is opening the flood gates. With no entry restrictions to Cambodia, are we ready for the hordes? Covid is running rampant in PRC, we know the damage two Chinese hookers did here, think about what thousands of potentially infected tourists are going to do.

China ends Covid quarantine for travellers in January
Published 1 hour ago
China will scrap quarantine for travellers from 8 January, officials said, marking the last major shift from the country's zero-Covid policy.
After almost three years of closed borders, this will reopen the country to those with work and study visas, or seeking to visit family.
But it comes as China struggles with the virus's ferocious spread in the wake of restrictions being lifted.
Reports says hospitals are overwhelmed and elderly people are dying.
The true toll - daily case counts and deaths - is currently unknown because officials have stopped releasing Covid data.
Beijing had reported about 4,000 new Covid infections each day last week and few deaths.
On Sunday it said it would stop publishing case numbers altogether. But British health data firm Airfinity estimated China was experiencing more than a million infections and 5,000 deaths a day, according to Reuters.

Japan is putting a quarantine in place for travelers from the PRC. I would like if they did the same here but it seems unlikely. Let's see.

Those still afraid of Covid can stay in their bunker double masked .... the Cambodian people deserve to get a chance to earn a living again.
And before he baying starts for my head, here’s my reasoning .... we in Kampot were hardly affected at all during the past 2 years ..... the largest KTV’s were told to close, we had two five day stints of 8pm- 4am curfew and the big market was closed for one day to fumigate ..... besides that a few places enforced a qr code for about 3 months and masks were worn indoors while shopping for no more than 6 months ..... Life went on as normal for the overwhelming majority of us, barang and Khmer alike ... and lo and behold .... the hospitals weren’t over run, I personally never heard or read of one person succumbing because of covid .... anedoctal perhaps but similar to Sweden who avoided the hammerlike reaction, Kampot’s typical death rate didn’t budge.
BTW, I’m still unvaxxed as are many of those in my circle and we are still alive obviously, sorry to disappoint some of you.

And booking to leave, now that they dont have to quarantine when they come home. According to the whole article, all flights to places like Thailand etc are being booked out from the second week of January.cabron wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:49 pmThey just coming back homehdgh29 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:09 pm Just when you thought it was safe to go to Angkor Wat - China is opening the flood gates. Considering how many barangs disappeared from Kampot over the past couple of years it will be good for the economy if a few thousand mainlanders move in and buy up all the redundant businesses.

There are lots of bars and restaurants for sale in Kampot, and everyone knows that the Chinese all have loads of dosh. They will spend ridiculous amounts of money on Kampot real estate and the prices will skyrocket. We will sell all our homes and businesses for vast fortunes, and will move to...
